Before this class ive probably read a total of 4 books, and those books were manditory for class in highschool. I really dont have any relationships with books because I personaly think reading is boring. I know reading is suppose to make you better writer, and enhance your vocabulary, but I cant bring myself to ever sit down and read one unless its homework. I like to write though, I love to brainstorm and writing everything thats on my mind, and transfer it onto paper. I think I have a unique mind when it comes to writing because when ever I an idea about something, it seems like my imagination is endless. When I write, I can express any kind of emotion or thought I have inside and talk about it forever.

Question for Reflection& Writing "The Lonely, Good Company of Books".

Im not really big on reading, I dont like to read in my spare time. The only time I read is when its manditory. I have an imagination when It comes to reading. I just cant sit still for a long time without zoning out. My parents are similar to Rodriguez's parents in the essay. They didnt make me read, nor did the read a lot themselves besides what came in the mail or the newspaper. I think if my parents would of made me read when I was younger, I would be more enthused about reading books. Like Rodriguez, I too did not like to read in school. Over time, Rodriguez over came his hatered for book and became in love with reading. On the other hand, I never became a lover of books, and I dont think I ever will.

Analazye to "In Praise of the F Word

I think the story "In Praise of the F Word" is a good story because it kind of relates to the school i went to, when lived in Kansas City. I also thought that teacher was rude for say "I don't move seniors", "I flunk them", but then again the teacher was right. Her son is not a little kid therfore he shouldnt be treated like one.

Response to one Question/ Kozol's " Savage Inequalities: Children in America's Schools"

Why did you decide to come to college?
I decided to come to college because I wanted to take my education to the next level. Receiving an education means more money in the future, at least thats what I think. Another reason why I came to college is because I want  to do something with my life instead of having a low-paying, non statisfying job.

Questions For Reading and Writing. "Let Teen-agers Try Adulthood"

Analyze Botstein's proposal for restructuring American high schools.  Has he anicipated all of the objections you can think of? If not, what has he missed? How feasible does his solution seem to you?

I dont think Botein's propoal fro restructuring high schools isnt feasible at all. I dont think that 6th and 7th graders should be able to go high school after that grade level because,  I dont believe their brains are  developed well enough do understand some of the complex work that comes with high school. Another reason why I dont think kids should be graduating high school at 16 because, I dont think their mature enough to handle college or work next adults in the working field.

Questions for Reflection and Writing "Where College Fails Us"

Some things I experienced in college are staying in a dorm, having to wake up early and walk to class, I also experienced play flag football. I am in college because I want to become an important person in the future, and be a roll model for my families up coming generation. College is worth it, if you're putting in enough efford to pass your classes then college is going to go well. College is alot to pay for, but my saying is,"
Spend money to make it". Meaning if you take care of business in college, then you can become anything you set your mind to.

What was the most helpful information you received in class for your paper?
Not to just answer the questions when we write our paper

How many drafts of this paper do you think you wrote and how/when did you write them? For example, did you compose at the keyboard, did you write lots of notes to yourself, did you pre-write or outline, did you write in small chunks of time or sit down and produce an entire draft at one sitting?
I contructed 2drafts in 3days. I wrote out a outline about my aunts educational background

What would you do differently with this paper to make it more effectively, or what did you try to do that you just don’t think you got a good handle on?

A writer's respons"Becoming Educated"

Education means a lot to me, for without it, I wouldn't have a good paying job in the future. I value an education because I want to be better than everyone one else in my family who didnt go to college. I want to be the first to be the one to graduate college, so my family can look up to me. I think sometimes if I graduate college, then that will inspire the next coming up generation go to college, and do something with their lives. Without an education you can't make it far in life. Thats why I plan to keep myself educated.

Respond to your blog about Interview.

Interviewing my Aunt Stephanie over the telephone was great. I learned things about the people she went to school with to add to my paper, also the financial struggle she went through growing up. Some concerns I have is not being able to transfer my interview to my paper well. I plan to over come this by writing at least 2 to 3 drafts to better my paper.

5 Questions For Task Two

What did other family members think of yoyu being the only one wanting to get an education? What were their educational backgrounds?

Do you think school has mad who you are today? Why or why not?

What sport did you play in school?

What did you want to be when you grew up? Why did you choose that occupation?

I chose these questions because I really didnt know what else to ask. A few questions I asked based of the background I knew about my aunt. The other questions were jsut simple closed-end questions that I wanted to know.

Response to Writing Topic Question. "Sister Flowers"

Like Angelou, my Aunt Stephanie threw me a life line. My aunt helped by showing me from right and wrong, when no one else would, not even my parents. Growing up as a young child I was easily influenced by older peers. I lived life on the edge, till my aunt pulled me back to reality, giving me a second chance at life.

Response to Questions and Reflection & Writing.

The word Cuentos means Stories. One example I provided from the book was when Mama was telling the young child how old Laura was when she first got engaged, and the doubts Mama had about the wedding.

Respond to your blog subjects that you are interested in interviewing and writing about for Task two.

The person I'm going to be interviewing is my Aunt Stephanie. I think she is very interesting because she's the only one in my family that values an education, and wanted to successful. Some questions i might ask are: What kept her motivated to stay in school? What were some of the road blocks that were in her way of earning an education? What did her family think of her being the only one wanting to learn? Problems that i may run into for this Task Two assignment is being able to put my paper all together and creating a thesis statement. A question I have for Task two is how would I start my introduction?
